Facebook shows ‘content isn’t available right now’ when posts restricted

Facebook displays a notice reading “This content isn’t available right now” when a post cannot be viewed by the person trying to access it. The message commonly appears if the post’s owner shared it with a limited audience, changed who can see it, or deleted the post.

Facebook is part of Meta Platforms Inc., a global social media company used by billions of people to share text, photos and video. The platform allows users to set privacy controls that restrict who can view individual posts or entire profiles, and those controls can affect whether content is visible to others.

The notice matters to everyday users, journalists and researchers because it can make verifying information or tracking online conversations more difficult. The message does not by itself explain which of the possible reasons applies, and it does not indicate whether content was removed by the user, hidden by privacy settings, or taken down by the platform for other reasons.

Users who encounter the notice can try viewing the content from a different account or contacting the person who posted it to confirm its status. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
