Toppers sweep Bethel in dominant midweek doubleheader
McKenzie, Tennessee — Blue Mountain Christian swept Bethel (Tenn.) in a midweek road doubleheader Tuesday, rolling to 11-1 and 12-0 victories, the school said.
In the opener the Toppers scored in each of the first three innings to seize control. Maryn Macri drew a bases-loaded walk in the first to score Anna Harrison. Blue Mountain Christian added three in the second, highlighted by an RBI walk from Mikaylah Fuqua and an RBI sacrifice fly from Aspen Teague. The Toppers added five runs across the sixth and seventh innings to secure a run-rule victory.
Fuqua went three-for-four with two RBIs and two runs, and Anna Harrison scored four runs and had two hits. Lakyn Nichols finished with two hits and two RBIs, Rachel Rommel had two hits and an RBI, and the Toppers collected 12 hits in the opener.
Madison Montgomery earned the win, throwing a complete game and allowing one run on six hits while striking out five. In game two Blue Mountain Christian erupted for eight runs in the second inning, with a two-RBI triple by Nichols, an RBI double by Bre Ramsey, and a four-RBI home run by Kelsey Camp.
Camp went three-for-three with four RBIs and two runs, and Neely Cooper worked three scoreless innings with three strikeouts before Janna Shaw closed with two scoreless innings in the 12-0 shutout. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
