Toppers place seventh at Roadrunner Classic

ROCKY FACE, Ga. — Blue Mountain Christian University men’s golf team placed seventh among 12 teams at the Roadrunner Classic on The Farm Golf Club course in Rocky Face, facing an elite field that included 11 teams ranked inside the NAIA Top 25.

Alex Nordstrom led the Toppers with a tie for sixth. Nordstrom posted rounds of 75, 67 and 75 for a 217 total, including a second-round 67 that moved him up the leaderboard against nationally competitive opponents.

Cobey Riddle tied for 10th after rounds of 72, 72 and 74 for a 218 total. Simon Meiby provided another counting score, tying for 34th with rounds of 79, 73 and 78 for a 230 total. Acen Lambert finished 48th at 237 (83, 77, 77) and Damil Ataullah placed 57th at 241 (78, 82, 81).

Head coach Kevin Barefield praised his players for competing against one of the season’s strongest fields. “This is one of the biggest tournaments we will play in all season, if not the biggest, and I was proud of how our guys competed against some of the best teams in the country,” Barefield said. “We had some really strong individual rounds, especially from Alex and Cobey, and this experience against top competition will help us as we continue preparing for postseason play.”

The Toppers will look to build on the experience as they continue their spring season. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
