Toppers lose to William Carey in Hattiesburg
Hattiesburg, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian fell to William Carey 111-89 on Friday in SSAC play, with the Crusaders using a high tempo and balanced scoring to build an early lead.
William Carey pushed the pace and opened space with depth, but the Toppers responded in stretches with efficient offense and aggressive drives to the basket, staying competitive throughout the fast-paced contest.
Blue Mountain Christian reported shooting 48.5 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from three-point range, generating trips to the free-throw line and battling on the boards to limit second chances.
Michael Hill led the Toppers with 24 points. Gavin Shannon recorded 18 points and 15 rebounds, anchoring the paint. Jalen Boyd-Savage scored 22 points, connecting on five three-pointers, while Braxton Taylor added 11 points and Esrael Yant contributed seven off the bench, according to the school’s statistics.
