Toppers explode for 18, rout United States Sports University 18-2

Blue Mountain Christian erupted for 18 runs Thursday to beat United States Sports University 18-2 in Blue Mountain, Mississippi, the school said.

United States Sports University struck first with a two-run homer in the top of the first, but the Toppers answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie it at 2-2. Blue Mountain Christian then took control, breaking the game open in the second and building momentum before a massive fourth inning produced double-digit runs and put the contest out of reach.

Maryn Macri and Kelsey Camp each drove in four runs to lead the balanced attack. Chloe Shelton added three RBIs, and Anna Harrison scored three times, collected multiple hits and stole two bases, according to the team recap.

Madison Montgomery earned the win, working five innings and allowing two runs on two hits as the Toppers held United States Sports University to just their early homer. After a brief deficit, Blue Mountain Christian scored 16 unanswered runs to secure a run-rule victory.

The Toppers are scheduled to face United States Sports University again on Feb. 13 at 1 p.m., according to the schedule posted by the school. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
