Toppers beat Rust College 5-2 in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Blue Mountain Christian men’s tennis beat in-state NAIA foe Rust College 5-2 in Memphis, handing the Toppers their second straight early-season victory.
Blue Mountain Christian captured the doubles point as Luis Lainer and Kevin Kotzé won Court 1, 6-1, while Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins took Court 3, 6-3. Juan Daniel Arevalo Rodriguez and Shriraam Anbanantan dropped Court 2, 4-6.
In singles, Lainer posted a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 1. Blevins prevailed in a three-set tiebreak thriller, 5-7, 6-3, 10-8 on Court 2, and Rogers won 6-4, 7-6 on Court 3. Arevalo Rodriguez lost 1-6, 2-6 on Court 4. Luis Felipe Cespedes won 6-4, 6-3 on Court 5, and Joel Renfroe fell 3-6, 6-2, 6-10 on Court 6.
Blue Mountain Christian improved to 2-0. The Toppers play a doubleheader Friday, Feb. 13, facing Christian Brothers at 10 a.m. CT and Cumberland (Tenn.) at 1 p.m. CT in Memphis. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
