Stillman edges Blue Mountain Christian in early-week battle
STILLMAN, Ala. — Stillman defeated Blue Mountain Christian 86-70 on Thursday night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the Blue Mountain Christian athletics department said. The Toppers battled throughout but could not overcome a strong offensive performance by the host Tigers.
Senior guard Gavin Shannon led Blue Mountain Christian with a game-high 29 points and 11 rebounds, the school said. Shannon provided much of the Topper offense early, attacking the basket and scoring from multiple levels.
Esrael Yant added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Jonathan Baker scored 17, giving Blue Mountain Christian multiple double-figure scorers as the Toppers worked to stay within striking distance in the first half, the release said.
The loss leaves Blue Mountain Christian looking to build on individual performances as it continues the season. The team travels to the University of Tennessee Southern on Feb. 14 for a 2:00 p.m. game, according to the schedule posted by the athletics department.
The Topper summary emphasized effort and individual contributions despite the defeat. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
