Night Hawks pull away to beat Toppers 85-76 in SSAC clash

BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. — Thomas University pulled away in the second half to defeat Blue Mountain 85-76 Thursday night in a Southern States Athletic Conference game.

Thomas built an early advantage and went into the break leading 42-29 behind a balanced scoring attack and efficient execution. The Night Hawks carried that momentum into the second half, extending the lead as the Toppers cut into the margin but could not complete a comeback.

Blue Mountain reported that Gavin Shannon led the Toppers with 27 points, shooting 9-of-17 from the field. Jonathan Baker added 19 points with five rebounds and three assists, while RJ Robinson contributed 10 points and seven rebounds off the bench. Esrael Yant chipped in nine points.

The Southern States Athletic Conference is an NAIA league that features schools across the southeastern United States. Blue Mountain returns to action at Point University on Jan. 29 at 7:30 p.m. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
