Blue Mountain Christian falls to William Carey 111-89 in Hattiesburg
HATTIESBURG, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian lost 111-89 to William Carey on Friday in Southern States Athletic Conference play, the Blue Mountain Christian athletics department said.
William Carey established an early tempo and scoring depth that helped the Crusaders build a lead, but the Toppers continued to respond with stretches of efficient offense in a fast-paced game, the release said.
Blue Mountain Christian shot 48.5 percent from the field and 45.8 percent from three-point range, according to the release. The Toppers also earned trips to the free-throw line and battled on the glass while trying to limit second chances against a high-scoring opponent.
Michael Hill led Blue Mountain Christian with 24 points. Gavin Shannon had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Jalen Boyd-Savage scored 22 points, connecting on five three-pointers. Braxton Taylor added 11 points, and Esrael Yant contributed seven off the bench, the release said.
The Southern States Athletic Conference includes small colleges across the Southeast and often features high-tempo conference matchups that emphasize perimeter shooting and transition offense. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
