Blue Mountain Christian falls 5-2 to Loyola in SSAC Roundup

Blue Mountain Christian University said Thursday that the Toppers fell 5-2 to Loyola University (La.) in SSAC Roundup play in Montgomery, Alabama.

Loyola secured the doubles point as all three Blue Mountain Christian pairs came up short. Adriaan Englebrecht and Luis Lainer lost at No. 1 doubles, 1-6; Caleb Rogers and Craig Blevins dropped their No. 2 doubles match, 3-6; and Pablo Cruz and Kevin Kotzé narrowly fell at No. 3 doubles, 6-7.

The Toppers showed resilience in singles, picking up two victories against a strong conference opponent. Kotzé earned a straight-set win at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Lainer added a point at No. 5 singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Englebrecht lost at No. 1 singles, 2-6, 2-6; Cruz dropped a tight No. 2 match, 4-6, 6-7 (5-7); and Maj Langerholz fell at No. 3 singles, 1-6, 1-6.

The SSAC Roundup brings Southern States Athletic Conference teams to Montgomery for conference play. The Toppers will continue SSAC Roundup matches in Montgomery. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
