Blue Mountain Christian beats Rust 5-2 in Holly Springs

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — Blue Mountain Christian University beat Rust College 5-2 on Tuesday to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

The Lady Toppers captured the doubles point. Camila Mordiz and Eugenia Ramos won Court 1, 6-4, and Kiersten Terris and Valeria Manquillo won Court 2, 6-1. Court 3 was awarded to BMCU by forfeit.

In singles action for BMCU, Manquillo rallied to win Court 1, 3-6, 7-5, 10-8. Eugenia Ramos fell 4-6, 5-7 on Court 2, while Lina Cetina posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory on Court 3. Lucia Rodriguez Garcia lost Court 4, 1-6, 2-6. Nami Malyaporn delivered a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 5, and Kiersten Terris was awarded Court 6 by forfeit.

BMCU (2-0) will play a doubleheader Friday, Feb. 13, in Memphis, Tenn., facing Christian Brothers at 10 a.m. CT and Cumberland (Tenn.) at 1 p.m. CT.
