Barnhardt, Shepherd lead Toppers at Bryan Phillips Invitational

Searcy, Arkansas — The Toppers produced a strong all-around showing at the Bryan Phillips Invitational, led by Jonah Barnhardt’s win in the men’s 5,000 meters and Ella Shepherd’s victory in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Barnhardt clocked a first-place time of 15:51.83 in the men’s 5,000, and the team placed five runners inside the top 15 in that event. Erick Flores finished seventh, Noah Harrington was 10th, JT Draper 11th and Lelan Boulden 14th, according to meet results.

Shepherd won the women’s 3,000 steeplechase in 11:57.70 and also placed sixth in the women’s 5,000 at 19:46.22. Kaedyn Wilson finished second in the women’s 5,000 in 19:12.44, while Lauren Paul was 13th. On the men’s side, Braxton Enzor placed eighth in the 3,000 steeplechase in 11:32.29.

Middle-distance and field contributors included Lukas Dykes (15th in the men’s 1,500 in 4:10.20 and 19th in the 800 in 2:02.32), Ja’Karien Perry (18th in the 800 in 2:01.81), Jorja Kate Mooneyhan and Ruth Hutchinson (both ran the 1,500 and 800), and Abby Laney (18th in the women’s discus with a mark of 27.59 meters). The results reflected individual victories and team depth, particularly in distance events. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
