Artemis team flies by moon today
A Facebook post said the Artemis team will fly by the moon today and encouraged families to follow the event online.
“For those of you with kids at home—big kids included—the Artemis team will be flying by the moon today,” the post said, and included a link for viewers. The post did not provide additional details about timing or the specific spacecraft involved.
The Artemis program is NASA’s long-term effort to return humans to the moon and to establish a sustained presence there. Planned missions under the program include crewed and uncrewed flights intended to test systems, gather scientific data and prepare for future lunar exploration.
The flyby could offer educational opportunities and renewed public interest in lunar exploration, particularly for young people who may be inspired by live views of the moon. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
