Reeves thanks West Point cadets after meeting
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves said in a Facebook post that he met with an “incredible group of West Point cadets” and asked the public to thank them for “stepping up to keep America safe.”
The post, which included photos, did not offer further details about the meeting. West Point refers to the United States Military Academy at West Point in New York, which trains undergraduate cadets to become commissioned officers in the U.S. Army.
Meetings between elected officials and military cadets often serve as public displays of support for the armed forces and can highlight recruiting, training and civil-military ties. Elected leaders commonly use such visits to emphasize national security priorities and to acknowledge the service commitments of future officers.
Reeves’ post reflects a broader practice of public officials engaging with service academies to recognize military service and encourage civic support. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
