Official thanks Tindell after MDPS budget meeting

A recent Facebook post thanked Commissioner Sean Tindell and said state officials met with the Senate Budget Committee last week to discuss funding priorities and the future of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.

The post said, “We’re continuing to work closely with the Legislature to grow and strengthen the Mississippi Department of Public Safety.” It included hashtags referencing the Mississippi Legislature and law enforcement.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is the state agency charged with a range of public safety and law enforcement responsibilities, including highway patrol and driver services. Funding decisions can affect staffing, training, equipment and emergency response capabilities across the state.

The Senate Budget Committee reviews and shapes funding proposals that state agencies present to the Legislature. Discussions such as the one referenced in the post are part of the annual budgeting and oversight process that determines how resources are allocated to state programs.

Details in the social media post were limited. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
