Foundation recognizes State Auditor Shad White for uncovering $400 million in waste
The State Financial Officers Foundation recognized State Auditor Shad White and his office for efforts that uncovered $400 million in waste across state government, the foundation said.
The State Financial Officers Foundation is a nonprofit that represents state financial officers and promotes effective fiscal management and accountability. Its recognitions highlight work by state audit and finance offices aimed at improving government operations and protecting taxpayer dollars.
State auditors typically conduct audits of agencies, investigate possible fraud or misuse of funds and recommend actions to recover money or strengthen controls. White’s office said its work identifying waste is part of routine oversight intended to increase transparency and reduce unnecessary spending.
White’s office said it will continue to pursue efforts to identify and eliminate waste in state government and will keep doing everything in its power to uncover as much waste as possible. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
