Tornadoes possible across parts of Mississippi into overnight hours
A Facebook post on March 15, 2026, warned that tornadoes are possible across parts of Mississippi this afternoon and into the evening and overnight hours.
The post urged residents to know where their safe place is located and to practice their action plan with family members before storms begin.
Mississippi is vulnerable to tornadoes during the spring, when changing temperatures and atmospheric conditions can produce severe thunderstorms. Knowing a safe location and having a plan can reduce injuries and improve response during rapidly changing weather.
Safety officials typically advise people to shelter in an interior, windowless room on the lowest floor or in a basement, to have an emergency kit with water, medications and a flashlight, and to sign up for local emergency alerts and NOAA Weather Radio updates.
Residents should monitor local forecasts and official channels for warnings. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
