Mississippi reports four more deaths after winter storms
Mississippi officials reported four additional deaths linked to recent severe winter weather — one in Lafayette County, one in Panola County and two in Tippah County — bringing the statewide total to 14, the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency said in a post on Facebook.
The agency said life safety remains the top priority and directed readers to a statement from Gov. Tate Reeves on recovery efforts posted on the agency’s website.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency coordinates disaster response and recovery efforts across the state, working with local governments, utility crews and other partners to restore services and support affected residents after severe weather.
Severe winter storms can cause hazardous road conditions, power outages and damage to homes and infrastructure. Officials urge residents to follow local advisories, avoid travel where conditions are unsafe and consult the agency and local public safety officials for information on shelters and road conditions.
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
