Five complete IAED Basic Emergency Telecommunicator course
Five local emergency telecommunications personnel — Roger Kirby, Angel Madkins, Jeannie Gonzalez-Jones, Christina Hervey and Terry Flemons — completed the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch Basic Emergency Telecommunicator Certification Course today, a Facebook post announced.
The International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, commonly known as IAED, is an organization that develops training, accreditation and protocols used by emergency call centers worldwide. The basic telecommunicator course provides foundational instruction for call takers and dispatchers who handle 911 and other emergency calls.
Certification signals that individuals have met recognized training standards and helps ensure that callers receive consistent, protocol-driven guidance during emergencies. Emergency telecommunicators play a vital role behind the scenes by gathering information, prioritizing responses and relaying critical instructions to the public and first responders.
The Facebook post said the organization is proud of each of the trainees and grateful for the vital role they play every day. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
