Communities honor life, legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Communities across the country on Monday honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., reflecting on his call for justice, equality and unity, according to a Facebook post shared publicly.
The post said, “Today, we honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and reflect on his enduring call for justice, equality and unity.” It added, “May we continue to carry his message forward through our actions and our commitment to one another.”
King was a central leader of the civil rights movement and advocated nonviolent protest to end segregation and expand voting rights for Black Americans. His speeches and organizing helped reshape U.S. law and public opinion, and his ideas remain a touchstone for campaigns for racial and economic justice.
Observances typically include moments of reflection, community service and educational events aimed at advancing the causes King championed. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
