Brackney meets with Attorney General Fitch to build law enforcement partnership
Chief RaShall Brackney attended a productive introductory meeting with Attorney General Lynn Fitch and her senior law enforcement staff this afternoon, according to a Facebook post. Brackney said she looks forward to a continued collaborative partnership with the Attorney General’s Office.
The meeting pairs a local law enforcement leader with the state’s top legal official. State attorneys general typically work with police and sheriffs’ offices on matters such as criminal investigations, interagency coordination, training, grant programs and legal guidance, experts say.
As a police chief, Brackney leads a department responsible for public safety and community policing in her jurisdiction, and such meetings can help align priorities between local agencies and the state. Attorney General Fitch oversees the state’s legal affairs and often provides support to local law enforcement through task forces, prosecutions and policy initiatives.
Details about topics discussed at the meeting were not released. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
