Meridian native Paul Davis remembered for hit songs and soulful voice

MERIDIAN, Miss. — Fans remember Paul Davis, the singer-songwriter born in Meridian, Mississippi, who gained fame in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like “I Go Crazy,” “65 Love Affair” and “Cool Night.”

Born April 21, 1948, Davis blended pop, soft rock and R&B to create a distinctive sound that left a lasting mark on music. His connection to Meridian remained strong throughout his life.

Davis died unexpectedly from a heart attack on April 22, 2008, one day after his 60th birthday. He is buried at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, where fans continue to honor his legacy.

His music continues to resonate with fans, and he is remembered as a music legend whose melodies endure.
