Reeves Declares State of Emergency Due to Tropical Storms
As announced on Saturday, Governor Tate Reeves has declared a state of emergency in Mississippi to prepare for the upcoming tropical storms, Laura and Marco
Marco is projected to become a hurricane at some point of the storm while Laura is expected to remain a tropical storm unless an unforeseen change occurs.
Both storms are expected to make landfall this week. This will be the tenth time since 1869 that two storms of this nature have occurred at the same point in time.
The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is working with a team from Florida on special non-congregate sheltering.
Due to COVID-19 and the attempts to mitigate the spread, the public is being asked to use public shelters as a last resort option.
