Officer-involved shooting in Gulfport

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on Tuesday, May 2, at approximately 4 p.m. near Hewes Avenue and Highway 90 in Gulfport. 

A Gulfport police officer was attempting to conduct a traffic stop when a subject presented a weapon towards the officer. No officer was injured, and the subject sustained non-life threatening injuries and has been transported to a local hospital.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
