Mississippi State Fair to spotlight patriotism in America250 celebration

Aug. 9, 2025 – The 166th Mississippi State Fair is gearing up to be more than just funnel cakes and Ferris wheels this year—it’s becoming a centerpiece of national pride. Agriculture Commissioner Andy Gipson announced that the 2025 fair, running October 2–13 in Jackson, will join the nationwide Great American State Fair initiative, part of the broader America250 celebration marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

A Patriotic Partnership

Joined by Gov. Tate Reeves, Major General Bobby Ginn, and representatives from the America250 Mississippi Commission, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and other civic organizations, Gipson unveiled plans to transform the fairgrounds into a red, white, and blue spectacle.

“This year, we’re wrapping the fair in red, white and blue,” Gipson said, promising a lineup of patriotic festivities including the Great American Parade, all-American entertainment, and a grand finale on Columbus Day featuring country music legend Lee Greenwood and a fireworks show.

Gov. Reeves praised the initiative, saying, “Mississippians are the most patriotic people in our entire nation. Our love of country is second to none.”

National Spotlight Ahead

The Great American State Fair initiative was launched by President Donald J. Trump in Iowa on July 3. The campaign will culminate in a 2026 festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., where the most patriotic state fair will be recognized.

Mississippi’s fair organizers are collaborating with a wide array of partners, including the USDA, the Mississippi National Guard, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and Friends of Mississippi Veterans. For the first time, fairgoers will be able to donate directly to support the state’s 200,000 military veterans.

Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce Andy Gipson, along with Gov. Tate Reeves and other state officials, announced the 166th Mississippi State Fair, to be held October 2-13, 2025, will take part in the nationwide Great American State Fair initiative.

Call for Support

Gipson is calling on individuals and businesses to help make Mississippi’s fair the most patriotic in the country. Interested sponsors can contact Deputy Commissioner Hayes Patrick at hayes@mdac.ms.gov.

“I invite everyone to come out, show off your Mississippi pride and American spirit,” Gipson said. “Let’s make this year’s State Fair the best and most patriotic in the nation!”
