Aug. 26, 2024 – Today State Auditor Shad White announced that Special Agents from his office have arrested Megan Berry, former Caledonia Park Commission (CPC) Treasurer, on one count of embezzlement.
Berry is accused of taking public funds that came into her possession by virtue of her employment with the CPC and pocketing the money for her own personal use.
“We will continue to work with prosecutors on cases big and small to get results for the taxpayer. This is how we’ve recovered more money in the last six years than any other six-year period,” said Auditor White. “Thank you to our investigators who helped uncover this scheme.”
Berry faces up to $25,000 in fines and 10 years if convicted. All persons arrested by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Suspected fraud can be reported to the Auditor’s office online at any time by clicking the red button at www.osa.ms.gov or calling 1-(800)-321-1275 during normal business hours.
