Yazoo County jail holds two women after delivering care packages, sheriff says

The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that two women who delivered care packages to detainees at the Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility will be held at the jail.

The post identified the women as Brittany Diew and Daunna Rogers and said they “showed so much bravery and determination to pull this off in broad daylight,” so the sheriff “decided to give them a free stay for the weekend,” the office said.

The Yazoo County Regional Correctional Facility is operated by the sheriff’s office and houses detainees who are awaiting trial or serving sentences. Correctional facilities generally have strict rules about items brought to detainees and require staff to screen and approve deliveries for safety and security.

The Facebook post did not detail whether the women have been formally charged or what laws may be involved. The sheriff’s office used its social media account to notify the public of the arrests. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
