Yazoo County deputies arrest two after traffic stop on Highway 49
YAZOO COUNTY, Miss. — Two men were arrested after a traffic stop on Highway 49, the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
Deputy Wilkins noticed a vehicle traveling northbound without a tag and initiated a traffic stop, authorities said. Two men were inside the vehicle, and both were taken into custody without incident. No additional information was immediately released by the sheriff’s department about the suspects’ identities or any charges.
The Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the county and routinely conducts traffic enforcement on major corridors such as Highway 49, a north-south route in Mississippi. Traffic stops for equipment violations or missing license tags can lead to further investigation if deputies discover outstanding warrants or other criminal activity.
Those arrested are typically processed at the county jail while investigators complete their inquiries, the department said. No timetable for release of further details was provided. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
