Woman riding bicycle hit by pickup on Highway 18 in Jackson

JACKSON — A woman riding a bicycle suffered minor injuries after she was struck early Friday by a white Dodge pickup truck on Highway 18, Jackson public information officer Tommie Brown said.

The crash occurred about 5:45 a.m., Brown said. The driver remained at the scene after the collision, and Brown characterized the cyclist’s injuries as minor.

Police have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the crash. Officials often urge caution for both motorists and cyclists, particularly during early-morning hours when visibility can be limited.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about roadway safety for people who bike to work or for recreation.
