Woman arrested in Columbus on shoplifting charges
COLUMBUS — A woman identified as Kelisha Blevins was arrested Sunday after a reported shoplifting incident at a Walmart in Columbus, the Columbus Police Department said.
Police said officers responded March 29 to the store after receiving a report of shoplifting. When officers arrived, they made contact with the suspect and, following an investigation, took Blevins into custody without incident, police said.
Blevins was initially charged with shoplifting, the department said. During the arrest, officers discovered outstanding warrants with the Columbus Police Department, and she was additionally charged with felony shoplifting, according to police.
The Columbus Police Department said it remains committed to protecting local businesses and holding offenders accountable. Retail theft is a concern for many communities and can carry misdemeanor or felony penalties depending on local law and circumstances.
