Woman arrested after pursuit, collides with patrol vehicles at Yazoo County correctional facility
YAZOO COUNTY — A woman was arrested early Monday after deputies said she fled from law enforcement and struck two patrol vehicles on the grounds of a correctional facility in Yazoo County.
Authorities said the incident began about 3 a.m. when deputies encountered a white vehicle whose driver had reportedly called a tow truck in Madison County to change a tire. After the tow truck driver installed the tire, the driver allegedly left without paying. The tow driver later called Yazoo County dispatch after the vehicle crossed into the county, authorities said.
Deputies located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, prompting a pursuit. During the chase, the driver turned onto the correctional facility grounds, where authorities said she struck two patrol vehicles while continuing to try to evade deputies. The collisions disabled the suspect’s vehicle, and deputies took the driver into custody at the scene.
Authorities said no deputies or the driver were injured. Officials did not immediately release the driver’s name or say what charges she might face. Pursuits and collisions on secure correctional facility grounds can raise safety and security concerns for staff and inmates. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
