Vicksburg police warn drivers after wreck on I-20 overpass
Vicksburg Police Department said it is working a wreck on the Clay Street exit overpass on I-20 westbound and urged motorists to take an alternate route, allow extra travel time and drive safely.
The department posted the alert to its Facebook page, saying the estimated time to clear the scene is approximately two to three hours. The post did not provide additional details about injuries or the number of vehicles involved.
The I-20 corridor is a major east-west interstate that carries local commuters and long-distance freight through Mississippi and several other states. Crashes on overpasses and interstates can cause significant delays and create hazardous conditions for motorists and emergency responders.
Motorists approaching the area should expect backups and consider using alternate routes. Drivers are advised to slow down, move over for emergency personnel and follow directions from law enforcement at the scene. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
