Vehicle strikes fallen tree on Old Highway 84 in Adams County

ADAMS COUNTY — Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded early Thursday after a vehicle struck a fallen tree blocking Old Highway 84, the office said.

The crash occurred about 5:45 a.m. March 12 in the 700 block of Old Highway 84 near 779 Old Highway 84 #3, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found a black Nissan sedan that had collided with the tree, which was blocking the roadway.

Officials said the impact caused significant damage to the front of the vehicle. Deputies secured the scene while the Adams County Road Department removed the tree. The roadway was later cleared and reopened to normal traffic, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities said no additional information about injuries was available at the time of the report. The sheriff’s office reminded motorists to use caution when traveling, especially during overnight and early morning hours when fallen limbs or trees may be present following storms or high winds. Fallen trees and debris are a common roadway hazard after severe weather and can create sudden, hard-to-see obstacles.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
