U.S. Marshals capture fugitive wanted in Winston County shooting

Bobby White Jr., 45, wanted in connection with a Winston County shooting and the attempted shooting of a law enforcement officer, was arrested March 17 in Ackerman, the U.S. Marshals Service said.

White was wanted by the Winston County Sheriff’s Department on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and attempted aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, authorities said. Investigators said the case began March 12 after an adult man, believed to be a family member of White, was shot following an altercation on Miller Avenue in Louisville. Emergency dispatchers received a call about the shooting, and as a Winston County deputy responded, officials said the suspect fired at the deputy. The deputy was not struck.

A warrant for White’s arrest was issued March 13, the U.S. Marshals Service said. Deputy U.S. marshals with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force tracked White to a home in the 1300 block of Concord-Bethsalem Road in Ackerman on March 17. With assistance from the Winston County and Choctaw County sheriff’s departments, marshals surrounded the residence and took White into custody without incident.

The U.S. Marshals Service, which locates and apprehends fugitives and supports local law enforcement, led the fugitive investigation, officials said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
