Traffic lights fail on Spillway Road; motorists urged to avoid area
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department said multiple traffic lights are out along Spillway Road, extending from the Rankin-Madison County line through the intersection of Old Fannin Road to the intersection of Spillway and Hughward Boulevard.
The department said electrical crews have been contacted and are en route to diagnose and restore power. Motorists were urged to avoid the area and find alternate routes until signals are repaired.
Traffic signal outages can create hazardous conditions at intersections and increase the risk of collisions and congestion. Drivers should slow down, remain alert for disabled vehicles and emergency personnel, and follow directions from law enforcement or utility crews working on the scene.
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County and routinely coordinates with utility providers and neighboring jurisdictions on traffic incidents. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
