Starkville police reunite best friends during 5th-grade D.A.R.E. visit
Starkville Police Department said in a Facebook post that best friends Daren and JoJo were reunited and posed for a photo with some of the department’s 5th-grade D.A.R.E. students.
The Starkville Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Starkville, Mississippi. The department regularly posts community outreach activities on social media to inform residents about local programs and events.
D.A.R.E., short for Drug Abuse Resistance Education, is a program used by many police departments nationwide to teach elementary and middle school students about resisting drugs, making safe choices and developing positive relationships with authority figures.
Events that bring officers together with students are part of community policing efforts intended to build trust and familiarize young people with public safety officials. Photos of such encounters are often shared to highlight positive interactions between law enforcement and children in the community.
Details about the reunion beyond the Facebook post were not provided. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
