Starkville holds parade to honor state champion Yellow Jacket boys, girls
Starkville will host a championship parade Tuesday to celebrate the state champion Yellow Jacket boys and girls basketball teams, SOCSD and the City of Starkville said in a Facebook post. The celebration begins at 6 p.m. in downtown Starkville.
The parade route will begin at the Jackson Street intersection, follow Lampkin Street to Greensboro Street and end with a ceremony and team recognition on the Greensboro Center lawn, the post said. Fans are encouraged to wear black and gold and line the streets to greet the teams.
Parking for the team recognition at Greensboro Center lawn will be available in the Greensboro and Armstrong Junior High parking lots on a first-come, first-served basis from 5 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., organizers said. Greensboro Street will close to all entering traffic at 5:30 p.m., and fans are invited to walk to the parade route.
Community parades are a common way for towns to honor school athletic achievements and allow residents to celebrate together. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
