Southaven students host annual Charger Champion event for first responders

Southaven Intermediate School fifth-grade ambassadors hosted their annual Charger Champion event for local first responders, the Southaven Police Department said in a Facebook post.

In the post, the department said, “We love spending time with students and building these strong relationships. Thank you for the food and fellowship!” The event brought students and emergency personnel together for conversation and community engagement, according to the post.

Southaven Intermediate School serves students in Southaven, Mississippi, and the Charger Champion program is part of broader efforts by schools and public safety agencies to foster positive connections between young people and first responders. First responders typically include police officers, firefighters and emergency medical personnel who play key roles in public safety and emergency response.

Officials did not provide additional details about the event in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
