Southaven police display motorcycles at Landers Center for memorial motor rodeo
Southaven Police Department showcased several full-duty police motorcycles at the Landers Center during the Scotty Triplett Memorial Motor Rodeo, the department said in a Facebook post.
The post said officers undergo intensive training to qualify as motor officers and commit to mastering skills that allow them to maneuver motorcycles with precision, including at slow, walking speeds. It said motor officers supplement their traffic enforcement duties with year-round training that sharpens skills used in patrol, escort duties and riding events.
Southaven Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Southaven, Mississippi, which is part of the Memphis metropolitan area. The Landers Center is a regional arena in Southaven that hosts concerts, sporting events and community gatherings, and motor rodeos often draw law enforcement units from the region to display riding skills and coordinate public-safety demonstrations.
Photos shared by the department provide a look at the motorcycles and the officers who operate them. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
