Southaven police close administrative offices Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Southaven Police Department said its administrative offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
The department said the closure does not affect public safety or emergency services. Residents should call 911 for emergencies; the department said emergency response will continue as normal despite the administrative office closure.
The Southaven Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency that serves the city of Southaven. Administrative closures on federal holidays typically affect nonemergency functions such as in-person records requests, permitting and other administrative transactions, while patrol and dispatch operations remain active.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day, observed on the third Monday in January, honors the civil rights leader’s legacy and is a federal holiday across the United States.
