Southaven officers mark World Thinking Day with Girl Scout activities

Southaven Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers marked World Thinking Day by hosting activities with local Girl Scout troops, highlighting friendship and community engagement.

The department said Officer Dickson led a lesson on the theme of friendship and what it means to be a friend. Officers Cogswell and Jackson used craft time to lead a discussion about how young people can make a difference in the future of the community, the post said.

Guest speaker Gladys McGraw spoke about her native country, Chile, and her experience moving to the United States, according to the department. Members from Troops #10634, #13923 and #13904 earned badges for their participation, the post said.

World Thinking Day is observed annually by Girl Guides and Girl Scouts to promote international friendship and global awareness. Police-community events such as this aim to build relationships between law enforcement and young residents in Southaven, a city in northern Mississippi. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
