Silver Alert issued as deputies search for missing Jones County man
JONES COUNTY, Miss. — Jones County Sheriff’s Department continued searching Monday for Harvey Lee Roberts after the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation activated a Silver Alert, authorities said. Roberts was last seen about 4 p.m. Sunday, April 12, 2026, at a home in the 400 block of Currie Road in the Currie community, officials said.
The Silver Alert lists Roberts as 86 years old, about 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 98 pounds, with black-and-white hair and brown eyes, the alert said. The sheriff’s department previously described him as 87 and said his hair appeared black and gray. He was last seen wearing red shorts, a gray shirt and no shoes, and there is no known direction of travel, authorities said.
Officials said Roberts suffers from a medical condition that may impair his judgment. Overnight ground, K-9 and drone grid searches did not turn up clues and were suspended at midnight, the sheriff’s department said. Patrol deputies and Jones County Beat 5 crews resumed canvassing Monday morning while awaiting additional drone support from the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, officials said.
The sheriff’s department asked residents who live on or near Currie Road to review security camera footage beginning at 4 p.m. Sunday to see whether Roberts may have been in the area. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the Jones County Sheriff’s Department at 601-425-3147 or 601-425-0223, the department said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
