Sheriff Jones leads Pike County highway litter cleanup
Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones is continuing a 2026 litter campaign to remove trash along Highway 570 West and other state highways and county roads in Pike County, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
The sheriff’s office said the effort reflects a commitment to keeping the county “clean, safe, and beautiful.” The post thanked the Mississippi Department of Transportation and Commissioner Charles Busby for donating a cleanup truck that will be used in the campaign.
Correctional Officer Kim Wallace led the cleanup effort, the office said, and the sheriff’s office also expressed appreciation for donors who supported the activity. The McComb Rotary Club and Victor’s Tint & Graphics provided decals for the truck, the post said.
Pike County is in southwestern Mississippi and includes communities that can be affected by roadside litter and safety hazards. The sheriff’s office public relations department provided the information and included the hashtag #ServiceBeforeSelf in the post. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
