Sheriff Johnson escorts Mooreville students to Special Olympics
Sheriff Johnson said on Facebook that deputies escorted Mooreville students out this morning as they headed to the Special Olympics, and he wished Lee County students the best of luck.
In the post, Sheriff Johnson wrote, “This morning we were honored to escort Mooreville students out as they head to Special Olympics. We would like to wish our Lee County students the very best of luck today!” He added, “We are praying for a fun, safe, and memorable day filled with great moments and even greater achievements. We are cheering you on every step of the way!”
The Special Olympics is a global movement that provides year-round sports training and competition opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. Events like these offer athletes a chance for competition, skill development and community recognition.
Law enforcement escorts to school events are a common form of community engagement that can provide logistical support and promote safety. Local officials often use social media to highlight community partnerships and to publicly support student participation in regional and statewide events.
Details about the students’ events and results were not included in the post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
