Saltillo man faces charges after search finds meth, firearms

A Saltillo man was arrested after agents executing a search warrant found a felony amount of suspected methamphetamine and numerous firearms at a home March 6, the Tupelo Police Department said.

William Wallace Ellis, 53, of Saltillo, was arrested and charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, authorities said. Lee County Justice Court Judge Chuck Hopkins set Ellis’ bond at $50,000, the department said.

Agents with the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and the Saltillo Police Department executed the search warrant at a residence on Pulltight Road, officials said. Investigators recovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine that they described as a felony amount, along with multiple firearms.

Methamphetamine is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance under federal law. The North Mississippi Narcotics Unit is a regional task force that assists local agencies with drug investigations. Authorities said the case will be presented to the Lee County grand jury.
