Rankin County sheriff highlights 2025 homicide investigation

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is highlighting the work of its Criminal Investigations Division in an episode of “Investigation Homicide,” the department said in a Facebook post. An investigator in the episode discusses his experiences while working on a 2025 case that involved two victims, William Earl Morris and Christian Storey.

The department, which serves as the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County, Mississippi, said it released the segment for purposes of edification and transparency. The Criminal Investigations Division handles major crimes, including homicide, and conducts follow-up investigations, evidence collection and interviews.

Officials said every loss of life is a tragedy and that the episode shares general details with the memory of the victims in mind. The department framed the release as part of ongoing efforts to inform the public about investigative work and to foster community trust.

The Facebook post did not provide additional case specifics. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
