Rankin County shelter cuts adoption fees as kennels fill
RANKIN COUNTY — The Rankin County Animal Shelter is asking the public to adopt after officials said the facility is over capacity and currently has no available kennels.
To move animals into homes more quickly, the shelter is holding a 50 percent off adoption event Friday and Saturday, March 27 and 28. Dog adoption fees will be reduced to $65 during the event, shelter officials said.
Shelter officials said the $65 fee includes spay or neuter services, a rabies vaccine, core vaccinations and a microchip. Adopters will also receive a free collar and leash, and the first eight adopters during the special will receive a gift card from The Cleaners by Pizza Shack, officials said.
The shelter is located at 710 Marquette Road in Brandon. Officials asked people who cannot adopt to share the shelter’s message to help more animals find homes. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
