Rain, storms increase in ArkLaMiss this weekend

Rain and storm chances will increase across the ArkLaMiss region this weekend, with total rainfall expected to average near one to three inches, forecasts indicate. Rain rates are not expected to be high enough to raise widespread flooding concerns, though meteorologists are monitoring the setup for the potential of a few strong to severe storms.

The ArkLaMiss area generally refers to parts of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. The tri-state region often faces heavy rainfall this time of year as Gulf moisture streams northward, which can affect travel, outdoor events and agricultural operations.

Forecasters caution that a small number of strong to severe storms could still produce localized hazards. Strong storms can bring damaging winds, hail or brief tornadoes; residents should stay alert to local watches and warnings from their weather service.

Local officials and weather providers will continue to update forecasts as conditions evolve. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
