Police seek 116 chainsaws stolen from Ocean Springs tree service

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. — The Ocean Springs Police Department is asking the public for help after 116 chainsaws and other tree-cutting equipment valued at more than $100,000 were stolen from Cambium Tree Care and Preservation Service around midnight Monday, authorities said.

Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers posted the case on Facebook, and the police department said investigators believe unknown person or persons cut through a chain-link fence in three locations along the west side of the property at 7613 Bienville Blvd. Surveillance footage shows an unknown vehicle driving onto a dirt road just west of the property at approximately midnight.

Police said video captured an individual wearing dark clothing, a mask and a hat entering the property and walking between bucket trucks while removing equipment. The person remained on the property from about midnight until 3 a.m. carrying equipment away, officials said.

Authorities said the majority of the missing items are commercial-grade STIHL chainsaws and multiple Reliable long-reach hydraulic saws marked with the letters “BT” and “CT” in white paint. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers through the P3 Tips app or by calling Crime Stoppers; information must come through Crime Stoppers to qualify for a reward. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
