Police investigate threat at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula
PASCAGOULA, Mississippi — Law enforcement is investigating a threat discovered Thursday morning at Ingalls Shipbuilding on the Mississippi Coast, WLOX-TV reported.
WLOX said someone found a threatening note and a bullet inside a bathroom at the shipyard. Authorities have not released the contents of the note, and police said the investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been announced.
Ingalls Shipbuilding told WLOX that operations at the facility are continuing as normal. The shipyard is a major employer on the Mississippi Coast and is known for building naval vessels for the U.S. Navy as part of Huntington Ingalls Industries.
A threat at a major defense contractor can raise concerns about employee safety and security procedures, and incidents of this kind often prompt internal reviews and coordination with local law enforcement. Officials did not provide additional details. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
